How I Take Notes
Book Notes
- If reading sources for writing, highlight any quotes for later use.
- Questions to ask self mid-reading:
- What are the key ideas?
- What terms or ideas are new to me?
- How would I define them? (the terms or ideas)
- How do the ideas relate to what I already know? It's also a good idea to write down your own questions as you read to then answer them at the end of a chapter or session.
Movie/Show/Game Notes
- use a laptop, phone, notebook, whatever to take notes
- if checking current time of movie/show is too distracting, use a stopwatch timer at the start of the movie to get close to the actual time of the note
- write very quick notes. one sentence. raw thoughts & emotions
- using these thoughts and re-watching the clips associated with the thoughts to allow space for more thinking
- outline the plot as you go along
- paul rejects jani
- paul drinks worm piss
- paul says "i fucked ur mum"
- etc
